Welcome back to the Game Master Certification Organization's Interview Excerpt Podcast Series. Over the last few episodes, we've been interviewing an actor, psychologist, and a creative artist that goes by the name of ShauntelleB. Hi, I'm your host Melody Rainelle. So, this is the last podcast episode where we will be wrapping up this interview with Shauntelle, so let's get started.
Shauntelle, would you like to acknowledge any influencers that you follow or things that give you inspiration?
ShauntelleB [0:31]
Inspiration. Influences. Everyone on the internet has an opinion. No opinion is going to be any better, categorically, than any other. There are going to be people whose style you look at, and you go: "Oh, I like that. I like what they did with that; they took that and they ran with it." Or, "I like that they engaged with this thing in a way that I would not have." That doesn't mean that you need to do the thing. Sometimes it doesn't work for you, and sometimes it's about the system not being right and sometimes it's about the players not being the right players. I wouldn't say use influences as anything more than... I don't know, uh, research the... I mean- enjoyment, entertainment - but it becomes research in the same way that I might watch a film or a movie to understand more about, you know, camera angles and lighting choices and script writing or directing or acting.

That sounds exhausting. What do you do to relax?
ShauntelleB [1:26]
I play games.
Melody [1:28]
Very appropriate for the topic at hand, I'd say.
ShauntelleB [1:31]
My whenever I'm playing an RPG, I am relaxed. That's my relaxation. I'm spending time with my friends. It doesn't matter if I'm getting paid for it or not. I am playing, and that's fun for me. I enjoy it. As long as there's a good story being told, I'm a happy camper.
Melody [1:47]
That's great. Alright, did you get to talk about everything you were hoping to in this interview?
ShauntelleB [1:53]
Yes.
Melody [1:54]
Wonderful. Okay. We're asking everybody this question twice, so here's your second shot at it - and it's okay if the answer is the same as the first time. No problem. But, how would you describe your better self?
ShauntelleB [2:08]
Um. Yeah, the same answer again. My better self is who I am at any given point in time. Yeah. It's to anxiety-provoking to overthink it. There's no real need.
Melody [2:19]

I'm happy to sit and answer questions, so it's all good.
